Image sizes for websites and social media (and how to resize in bulk)

Recommended image dimensions for websites, online shops, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, and how to resize and crop many photos at once.

Updated 2 October 2026

Images that are too large slow down your website and get cropped badly on social media; images that are too small look blurry. Here are dependable sizes to start from, and how to process many images at once.

Recommended sizes (a good starting point)

Platforms change their recommendations from time to time; these sizes remain safe choices.

Resize and crop in bulk

  1. Use Crop image first to get the right shape, for example square for product photos or 4:5 for Instagram. Choose whether to keep the centre, top or bottom.
  2. Then use Resize image to set the exact width, or a percentage such as 50%.
  3. Select several images at once; you get a zip back.

Keep quality high

  • Always start from the original photo, not a screenshot or a previously shrunk copy.
  • Don't enlarge small images much; they will look soft.
  • After resizing, Compress image at "Balanced" usually halves the file size with no visible difference.
